Lisa's Story
I have been working with Abi for just over three years and have had a little break in between due to Covid and lockdown.
I have always struggled with exercise, particularly when it comes to finding something that I enjoy. I decided to work with a trainer primarily to motivate myself and to have someone support me through the process. I personally chose Abi as I’d read great reviews and she is a female, and I wanted someone who could relate to me, and who was focused on getting the best out of people as opposed to offering ‘quick’ fixes.
Because my job is very sedentary, my key goal was to try and introduce more movement. I had also gained a considerable amount of weight and wanted a programme that would help me achieve losing weight (and keep it off) in a sustainable way.
Having worked with Abi, I have been able to lose weight and become healthier but an unintended (and for me, the biggest) accomplishment has been building a better relationship with my body. She set me up with nutrition guidance, and conducted in-depth check-ins each week to help me work through all things from activity and lifestyle to mindset and nutrition.
Since working with Abi, my relationship with my body and nutrition has come on leaps and bounds. Abi has taught me that having a positive relationship with yourself is multifaceted and isn’t just based on scale weight and/or what size clothing you wear. Training with Abi has shown me what your body is capable of doing and that you are a lot stronger physically and mentally than you think. Overall, I’m now a lot kinder to myself and Abi has equipped me with tools to enjoy things whilst not feeling that I have to restrict myself.
I’ll admit, I did go into training with a naive mindset as I thought I would get results quickly. I did get results, but it took time and required me to look at my lifestyle and make a number of changes. However, the benefit of time is that the changes/results you get are long lasting.
I’m definitely not someone who is always motivated but Abi has shown me that the important thing is turning up and doing it because I know I always feel 100% better afterwards for getting up and moving. It helps to have her to be accountable to.
If there's one thing that's great about working with Abi, it’s Abi! Abi is a wonderful coach (and I say coach because she is more than just a PT). She really pushes me and challenges me but she also provides invaluable support and is an overall joy. She also always has good book and podcast recommendations.
