Becky's Story
So far I have been working with Abi for 5 years! I’ve always been active and sporty but when it came to the gym I had no idea what I was doing and walking into a gym was really daunting. I wanted help to learn more about training and nutrition (to lose a bit of weight and get stronger and fitter) and feel more confident.
I’ll admit, when I first started all I wanted was to be ‘skinny’ and have a flat tummy but over the years I have learnt so much and now my goals are completely different! The gym is now a therapy for me and a huge part of my lifestyle. Abi and the guys at Stanza Fitness have created a relaxed and happy environment whilst staying professional. I have learned a lot and grown and become confident in myself. I love the feeling of being fit and healthy…it’s the part of the week I look forward to and I never feel anxious about going now. They are the best and really do know their stuff!
I accomplished so much since coaching with Abi. I am a lot more toned, strong and defined. I have lost weight (and maintained it!) and most importantly, I am healthy. The gym is a concrete part of my lifestyle and wellbeing. I love going to the gym and feel confident when I am there.
I know I still have a lot to learn but I understand movements and what muscle groups they are targeting. Abi has taught me how to focus on technique more and all the other methods of progression (not always just how much weight or how many reps).
Abi really teaches you how to manage “life” alongside progress. She is great at coaching you and helping you find ways to cope with everyday life stresses whilst not going completely off course and maintaining consistency. My relationship with food and alcohol is also a lot better!
Although I still am not where I would like to be, in terms of looks/shape, I am a lot happier within myself, mentally and with my body. I now love my body and am grateful for what it does for me… I no longer punish it.
The coaching process has made me come to terms with some home truths! I have learnt a lot about myself and the simple fact that if you want change you have to make changes. Abi is firm about this but also has the emotional understanding to support you throughout.
I always look forward to seeing Abi and she has become more of a friend and confident over the years (sorry Abs!). She is more than just a Personal Trainer. Someone I think described Abi as firm but fair and this hits the nail on the head. If you want to see change, you need to change something, and Abi really has opened my eyes to this (and not just in a fitness aspect). I look to her as a big sister and relate/look up to her in many ways! She is fab…so I have a lot to thank her for!
