Kate's Story
I have been coached by Abi for about 5 months now and having always yoyo dieted and gone to group classes, pushing myself with cardio and not having much direction or seeing any change, I decided that I needed a more specific training plan and guidance. I have been aware of Abi in the industry and had seen her results at a photoshoot in the previous year. The reviews Abi had were amazing and so many people encouraged me to go to her for her results and her attitude towards health and fitness.
My goals initially were honestly just to feel good about my body. I wanted to see changes and lift heavier and actually see progression week on week. I also wanted to try and break the pattern of nutrition issues I have and find ways to combat when I feel myself slipping. My biggest accomplishment physically was being able to deadlift 80kg which I never thought i’d be able to do! However, mentally I am more comfortable with my body, I am able to talk about my anxieties more and be open when I see good habits slipping.
Being with Abi helped change my relationship not only with my body, but nutrition as well. I no longer try to punish my body to see changes. I feel like I understand how my body works, and more significantly, what works for me specifically. I feel more confident and don’t focus on what I perceive are the negatives with my body.
The thing that has surprised me most about the process is how quickly I saw progression in my lifting. Abi really challenged me and pushed me, and even when I thought I couldn’t, I could.
Staying “motivated” I understand is something that comes and goes but having Abi as an accountability partner every week really helps me stay consistent. Abi helps coach you through the good, but more importantly the periods when things get more difficult or you hit a plateau, and that’s when it matters most to have a coach. She helps you see the progression and improvement every week and that really drove me to want to improve and do better. An added bonus to coaching with Abi is that we definitely chat and laugh a lot which makes the training fly by and so fun! But the main thing is she listens and encourages me and helps me break down what I am thinking and feeling about training and my body!
