Debi's story
I first met Abi in Autumn 2018 for a one-to-one consultation to discuss coaching with her. I had been aware of her work and incredible track record for a while, as Abi had actually trained my daughter Emily, who has complex health needs.
I had for years used a large commercial gym that was impersonal and where I felt an idiot if I asked any questions, let alone tried to speak to someone about using weights, getting results and staying injury free. Abi was recommended to me as being one of the best in the business because of her expertise, knowledge and ability to relate to her clients.
My goals initially were to get fit and lose weight. I wanted to improve on my whole physique but was acutely aware of historic weaknesses in my back and knees so was really keen to learn good technique.
Since training with Abi I have learnt how to follow an intelligent diet and training program to get fit, increase my strength and proficiency in the gym and transform my physique. My diet has changed to incorporate a better balance to help support my goals. The program was continually reviewed, keeping it fresh and interesting and also to keep up with the progress I was making.
There was never a moment that I didn’t look forward to training. Abi gave me the skills to eventually train on my own. She was always there if I had questions and continually monitored my progress. I achieved my weight loss aims and felt the fittest and strongest I have ever felt in my life.
I now feel far more comfortable with my diet and weight. I feel that I now have a much better relationship with food and better knowledge, and I know how to maintain that holy grail of healthy balance.
Previously I had always followed high intensity cardio routines that had got me nowhere. I had no previous knowledge of using weights to get strong or build muscle once I learnt the technique (Abi made this bit fun and simple, in an environment that is safe and non judgemental). Abi also taught me to combine diet changes that supported training and achieve results and there is an amazing picture to prove it! In addition to the physical changes however, I also feel great mentally.
Abi has taught me that a healthy approach to diet and exercise is a lifeskill that once learnt is never forgotten. I love to keep in balance as I like to be mentally and physically strong. Abi’s training sessions are invigorating. Bottom line is, you want to do them because they make you feel fab!
During my journey Abi always related to me as a whole person. My coaching plan with her is unique and special to me. At the start I worried about lifting weights properly but Abi has an incredible ability to teach and explain the most complex things in a way that makes sense. She is patient and kind and thoughtful in all that she does.
